About

The Iate Clube do Rio de Janeiro is a social and sporting yacht club focused on recreational and competitive sailing, fishing, and other nautical sports, along with social, cultural, and hospitality services for members and guests. The club was founded on 25 March 1920, originally as the Fluminense Yacht Club, and relocated to Avenida Pasteur in Urca after a federal concession in 1927. Over the years, it has expanded to include subsedes in Cabo Frio, Angra dos Reis, and Ilha das Palmas, and has a long history of hosting national and international regattas, producing world-class and Olympic sailors. Accommodation

The Cabo Frio subsede provides accommodation for members, featuring around 20 furnished apartments equipped with TV, air conditioning, minibar, and bedding. Boatyard Facilities

Moorings and Anchorage

Clubhouse Features

The Urca sede offers extensive social facilities, including swimming pools, multiple restaurants and bars, sports courts, a gym, a cultural center, and a cinema (Centro Cultural Gabriel Vilella). Training

The Escola de Desportos Náuticos (EDN) offers a range of on-water and theoretical courses, including Optimist, dinghy, ocean sailing, fishing, swimming, and various nautical certifications. Racing

The club has an active racing program, hosting weekly and major regattas, as well as national and international championships. Recent events include the ILCA Brazilian championships and large Snipe Brazilian championship editions. Historically, the club has hosted world-class events, including Star-class world championships.
