History

The Club was incorporated in 1891, with its first clubhouse located at 270 Beacon Street. In 1926, it moved to 40 Trinity Place. The Club sold itself to John Hancock in the early 1960s, later repurchasing part of its original building at 426 Stuart Street in the mid-1990s. The Club hosts an active calendar that includes speaker series and seminars, food and beverage events such as wine dinners and clambakes, member mixers including young member mixers, family and kids programming like puppet shows and movie nights, athletic events such as squash tournaments, swim meets, and private member-hosted events. The University Club offers robust athletics and member programs including squash lessons, clinics, tournaments, and junior camps. Aquatics and multisport activities are available, featuring a 25-yard saline pool, adult and junior swim instruction, swim meets, water polo, and triathlon training.
