About

The Oxford Union Society (founded 1823) is an independent student debating society based in Oxford whose membership is drawn mainly from the University of Oxford. Events

The Union runs a programme of formal debates and individual speaker events, noted for its Thursday-night debates, concerts, social events (including a termly Union Ball), and black-tie debate-night dinners and corporate hospitality. Membership

Membership classes include life, long-term, temporary (course-length, termly, visiting), and residential membership. Primary eligibility is for matriculated University of Oxford students, with provisions for certain partner institutions, Oxford Brookes students, and approved Oxford residents.
