About

The Corinthians Association is a membership organization of amateur sailors based on the U.S. East Coast that promotes cruising, camaraderie, and shared sailing opportunities among skippers and crew. Its activities focus on cruises-in-company, fleet-level local sailing, shore-side presentations, and social events, with typical cruising grounds from Maine to the Chesapeake and expanding activity from North Carolina to Florida. More information can be found on their website.

Membership

Prospective members must submit an application that includes a description of boating experience, obtain a statement of recommendation from a Sponsor and two Endorsers, and receive approval by a representative of the intended Fleet. Applications are reviewed by the Membership Committee and Afterguard. Accepted candidates pay a one-time entrance fee and the first year’s dues. The site states a typical processing time of about one to three months and provides a contact for membership inquiries, which can be found here.

Seamanship Training

Seamanship and skill development are promoted through shore-side educational presentations and seminars, fleet-organized on-water activities, guidance from local Port Captains, opportunities to crew with experienced skippers, and coordination with other cruising organizations to share knowledge and best practices. More details are available on their website.

Safety Courses

The Association encourages safety and good seamanship through educational events, fleet activities, and experienced-member mentorship. While the website does not list specific branded safety courses, it describes shore-based educational opportunities, presentations, and seminars available for members. Further information can be found here.

Cruising Guides

Members receive resources intended to support cruising, including an annual Yearbook (membership and fleet directory) and references available via the Association’s online resources. Fleet captains and Port Captains also provide local knowledge for cruise planning. More about these resources can be found here.
