Royal Selangor Club

Club History

The Royal Selangor Club was founded in 1884 as the Selangor Club. It has a long-established clubhouse at the padang, now known as Dataran Merdeka, and was historically referred to as the 'Spotted Dog'. The club was granted a royal charter and became the Royal Selangor Club in 1984, later expanding to include the Bukit Kiara, also known as the Kiara Sports Annexe. Facilities

The club offers a range of facilities including function and meeting rooms such as the Grand Ballroom, President's Room, Card Room/Multipurpose Room, Hash Room, Dewan Tan Sri Hamzah, and Pavilion Terrace. Additionally, there are two large fields, tennis courts, squash courts, billiard tables, dart boards, a members-only swimming pool, and a car park. Dining Facilities

The club provides various formal and informal dining options across multiple restaurants and lounges, including the Verandah Coffee House, Chinese restaurant (Chuan Zie Seafood), Kiara Coffee House, Japanese Restaurant, Pavilion Bar, The Cellar, Long Bar, Pavilion Terrace, The Oval Lounge, Tea Garden/Food Court, and Penang Nyonya. Dress Code

The club has a published dress code that requires smart casual or more formal attire for most outlets. Disallowed items include collarless T-shirts, shorts (except for children under 12 in some outlets), slippers/flip-flops, sandals, and faded/tattered denim.
