Phyllis Court Club

Club History

Phyllis Court Club was founded on 2 June 1906 by Roy Finlay. The site’s history traces back to a manor known as Fillets Court (c.1301) and includes royal and historical associations, such as Queen Anne in 1604, and wartime use. Major recent developments include the acquisition of land and the redevelopment of the Riverside Pavilion, as well as the opening of the Fitness Centre, which had a soft launch in 2018 and an official opening in 2019. Facilities

The club features a riverside clubhouse and 18 acres of grounds, which include 17 hotel bedrooms, meeting and versatile function rooms (including the Riverside Pavilion), and free Wi-Fi. The state-of-the-art Fitness Centre includes a 20m pool, sanarium, studio, and a 90m² Technogym gym. Additional facilities include four all-weather tennis courts, croquet lawns, a rowing enclosure, billiards/snooker facilities, and mooring available to members (waiting list applies). Dining Facilities

Members can enjoy multiple dining and drinking options, including the Orangery restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the Thames Room, which offers lunch and dinner when open. The Members Bar and Lounge provide sandwiches, drinks, and cocktails, along with a daily afternoon tea service from 2pm to 5pm. Events Calendar

Phyllis Court runs year-round club events and Interest Group programmes, with over 30 groups available. The club publishes event listings and a calendar on its website. Membership Options

Membership categories include Full Membership for individuals living within 100 miles of the club, Distant Membership for those living and working more than 100 miles away, and Junior Membership for individuals aged 18-26. Further information can be found on the membership options page.

Dress Code

The club requires members and visitors aged 13 and older to be 'suitably dressed' according to its dress code. Specific dress requirements are set for particular occasions, such as a formal 'Regatta style' dress code during the Henley Royal Regatta. Sports Facilities

The Fitness Centre includes a 20-metre pool, a sanarium, an exercise studio, and a 90m² Technogym-equipped gym, where personal training and classes are available. Phyllis Court offers a wide programme of Interest Groups covering various activities such as sporting, leisure, learning, music and theatre, arts and history, food and drink, and indoor pursuits. The club offers meeting and function spaces for corporate hire, event coordination through an Events team, overnight accommodation for delegates and guests, and free Wi-Fi across the premises.
