Golf Courses

The National Golf Club comprises four 18-hole championship courses (72 holes total) across two sites: The Old Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., features links-style dramatic coastal dunes and large tiered greens; The Moonah Course, designed by Greg Norman, is characterized by rugged links and prominent bunkering; The Gunnamatta Course, designed by Tom Doak, offers a coastal, firm-and-fast links-style with strategic bunkering; and Long Island, with a Sandbelt-style routing, was originally designed by Gordon Bernard Oliver.

Tournaments and Events

The Club hosts a number of high-profile events, including The National Tournament, which is part of the PGA Tour of Australasia, and the annual National Invitational, a multi-day women’s tournament played across The National courses each March. Additionally, there is a program of club events such as the Men’s Senior Open and other internal and invitational competitions.

Lessons and Coaching

The National Golf Academy offers lessons with PGA professionals, including private lessons, on-course tuition, and lesson packages. Members can book accredited PGA coaches and purchase lesson packages or on-course tuition in various formats.

The Club features state-of-the-art practice facilities at Cape Schanck, including a rye-grass driving range, a dedicated short-game area, and full clubhouse services. Additionally, there are professional coaching and club fitting services available.

Dining Options

The Clubhouse provides premium hospitality for members, guests, and event groups, offering welcome drinks, dinners, and spectator hospitality during tournaments. Corporate and event hospitality packages are also available.

Social Events

The National operates a Functions & Events program, which includes corporate golf days and member events. The Club’s events team coordinates various functions, including dinners and welcome events.

Visitor Access Policy

The National is a private members’ club. Local non-members may play only as invited guests accompanied by a member, while interstate and overseas visitors can request tee times by submitting a visitor/tee request form. Certain periods are reserved for members and their guests, and green fees are charged per round.

Seasonal Operations

The Club reserves peak holiday periods for members and restricts non-member bookings during public holidays and long weekends. Visitor booking windows are limited, and reservations cannot be made more than three months in advance.

Golf Shop

The on-site Pro Shops at Cape Schanck and Long Island offer retail services, club fitting, and arrangements with preferred suppliers. Motorised carts are available for managed events and corporate days.

The National Golf Club Foundation supports community initiatives aimed at increasing participation in golf and enhancing wellbeing in the local Mornington Peninsula and Frankston communities, focusing on women, children, and underrepresented groups.

Membership Options

The National is a private club offering individual and corporate membership classes. Interested parties may buy a share from a current shareholder, and membership enquiries are managed by the Membership Department.
