The Hong Kong Cricket Club is a private members’ recreation club founded in 1851 and based at Wong Nai Chung Gap Road.
It centres on cricket—turf ground, indoor nets and a large junior pathway reaching over 400 children each season—and also offers tennis, squash, hockey, lawn bowls, swimming, fitness classes, structured adult and junior programmes, and three women’s cricket sides.

The Hong Kong Cricket Club (HKCC) is a private recreation and members' club based at 137 Wong Nai Chung Gap Road on Hong Kong Island. Founded in 1851, it is one of the oldest cricket clubs in East Asia and provides cricket, a wide range of other sports, recreational classes and dining/event facilities from a modern clubhouse, sports annexe and grounds overlooking Wong Nai Chung Gap. Club History
Established on 7 June 1851, the Club was originally located on Chater Road in Central and remained there for 124 years before relocating in 1975 to its present site at Wong Nai Chung Gap. Since its foundation, HKCC has expanded from cricket to include many other sports and community programmes while retaining a historic role in Hong Kong sport. Facilities
Extensive on-site facilities include a turf cricket ground, outdoor turf and astro nets, a three-lane indoor Cricket Centre of Excellence, Main Club building and Sports Annexe, a 25m swimming pool complex, multiple tennis courts, squash courts, multi-purpose rooms and halls, lawn bowls greens, a sports shop and event/meeting spaces throughout the clubhouse. In addition to cricket, the Club offers organised sports and recreational activities including tennis, squash, hockey, lawn bowls, netball, croquet, golf, table tennis and snooker; structured fitness and adult classes (yoga, Pilates, spin, aqua-fit, ballet, cardio tennis and personal training); junior multi-sport programmes, swimming and social/wine & dine events. Junior Cricket
HKCC runs large junior cricket pathways (Gappers & Ramblers) established mid-20th century and described as among the largest junior programmes in Hong Kong, reaching over 400 children each season; juniors progress through age-group teams (U11, U13, U17, U19) and scholarship/pathway schemes (Sporting Pathway Associate and Gappers scholarships) with opportunities for local league play and international tours. Women's Cricket
Women’s cricket at HKCC was revived in 2001, with an official women’s league from 2004-05; by 2025-26 the Club fields three women’s sides (Willow Wielders, Cavaliers and Diamonds), runs weekly trainings (e.g. Wednesday indoor centre sessions Sept–June) and participates in the CHKC women’s competitions including a Women’s Premier League played on turf. Fixtures and Results
The Club publishes up-to-date fixtures and results for senior, junior and women’s teams (season listings shown for 2025-26); domestic club cricket in Hong Kong traditionally runs from about September until May and HKCC posts upcoming fixtures and match results on its Fixtures & Results pages.
Events
HKCC runs a busy events programme including club social nights, wine dinners, private functions and sporting festivals (e.g. anniversary cricket festivals and international fixtures), operates hospitality packages such as the Happy Valley Race Box, and live streams league match days; the Club’s Events and International Events pages and 'What's On' calendar list upcoming club functions.
Visiting Policy
All visitors must follow Club entry rules: members must register guests at Reception (Member's Guest Introduction Form / Visitors Registration Form), adhere to health & safety guidance (e.g. avoid visiting with fever/respiratory symptoms) and observe club dress and admission rules for specific venues (e.g. Long Room age and dress restrictions). Seasonal Operations
Cricket and most club competitive seasons operate on the Hong Kong domestic calendar (cricket traditionally from September to May); the Club also publishes seasonal sports and recreation programme timetables (monthly/term schedules) for adult classes, junior programmes and F&B promotions. Community Outreach
HKCC engages locally through an 'Open Up' programme for Eligible Outside Bodies, school partnerships (multiple primary and international schools), NGO collaborations and community programmes (coaching in schools, scholarship schemes and a community summer programme for children with asthma), and provides facilities/training support for national sporting associations. Membership categories include Subscriber Member (requires Proposer and Seconder with an estimated 48–60 month waiting time), Sporting and Junior Sporting Members (accelerated entry for premier sports players), Perpetuity Corporate Nominee Membership and Term Membership (3-year fixed term).
