History

The club was founded on January 5, 1905, with Edward H. Raymond as its first commodore. The clubhouse was completed in 1927, and the Junior Yacht Club was formed in 1923. The club expanded its facilities by purchasing waterfront property and enhancing the Junior Yacht Club docks between 1992 and 1996. Further details about the club's history are available here.

Accommodation

The Edgartown Yacht Club does not operate a public marina for visiting yachts. Moorings in Edgartown Harbor are managed by the Edgartown Harbormaster, and additional dockage can be arranged through Dockwa, the Harbormaster, Harborside Inn, or Mad Max Marina. The club also operates a launch service and provides access to a water barge, pump-out information, and limited dock and gear storage during events. More information on accommodations can be found here.

Moorings and Anchorage

Moorings are administered by the Edgartown Harbormaster, with reservations and forms available for events such as the Round-the-Island Race. Anchorage is generally limited to the Outer Harbor, subject to Harbormaster restrictions. A free pump-out boat service is available in Edgartown waters, and both the Edgartown Yacht Club and OldPort provide launch service to moorings.

Clubhouse Features

The clubhouse features a waterfront main dining room, Galley Grill, and Bar One, all overlooking the harbor. Members and visiting yachtsmen have access to the Anchor Deck and pier, as well as restrooms. The Junior Yacht Club has its own waterfront facility and piers located at Dock Street. The clubhouse also offers a live webcam and full dining service during the season. More details can be found here.

Training Programs

The club operates the Junior Yacht Club and EYC Sailing Center, which offer youth sailing instruction in various types of boats, including Optimist dinghies, Club 420s, Rhodes 19s, and Lasers. Adult sailing programs are also available. On-water support includes launch and chase boats, along with an experienced instructor staff. The club provides race and competitor materials, including safety and crew training guidance for events. More information on training can be found here.

Racing Activities

The Edgartown Yacht Club has an active racing program that includes summer series, one-design and classic yacht events, the Vineyard Herreshoff Cup, and the annual Round-the-Island Race during Edgartown Race Weekend. The club publishes race calendars, notices, and competitor guides, and manages Race Committee operations for major regattas. More details on racing can be found here.

Regular clubhouse dining and bar events, along with other member social gatherings tied to regattas and seasonal programming, are also part of the social offerings. More details can be found here.

Dress Code

The club maintains a generally relaxed seasonal dress code. Shirts and shoes are required on club premises, and hats should be removed inside the Galley Grill and Main Clubhouse. Specific attire guidelines may be noted for certain events. More information on the dress code can be found here.
