Durban Club

About

The Durban Club, originally founded as the D’Urban Club on 14 June 1854, features an Edwardian clubhouse located on Durban’s Victoria Embankment, offering views of the harbour. The current clubhouse was initiated in 1900 and completed in January 1904. Women were admitted as full members in July 1994, and the club has a long recorded history through the 19th and 20th centuries. In 2003, the building was sold, and the Durban Club obtained a long lease on part of it. More details about the club's history can be found here.

Facilities

The club offers a range of facilities including multiple function and meeting rooms such as the Mountbatten, Churchill, Jan Smuts, and a Library. The Mountbatten Room serves as the main dining venue, suitable for both dining and dancing, while the Library Room adjoins it for smaller meals. In-house catering is provided for events held in these spaces.

Venue Hire

The Durban Club is available for hire for weddings, receptions, and special occasions. The Mountbatten Room can accommodate approximately 100 guests for receptions, with the adjoining Library Room available for dancing.
