The original 9 holes were designed by Charles Murray in 1910/1911, and the course was expanded to 18 holes by George Cumming in 1915. A major redesign was completed in 1989 by Ken Skodacek with Ken Venturi, and a five-year improvement program led by architect Jeff Mingay was completed in 2023 to restore the Golden Age-era routing and enhance the course features.
