About

Yacht Club Como (Circolo della Vela Como) is a Lake Como boating club focused on both sailing and powerboating (motonautica). It operates a sailing school and youth training programs, and is the organiser and host of major motonautica and sailing events, including the Centomiglia del Lario.

The club has a long local sporting history in both sailing and powerboating, with an organised sailing school and competitive sailing activity documented since 1950. The Centomiglia del Lario race has been a long-running event in the club calendar since its inception in 1949.

Facilities

The club features a boatyard with a 'parco alaggi' (boat park/haul-out area), cranes for launching and retrieving boats, and an on-site fuel dispenser for refuelling during events. Additionally, there is an on-site auto-workshop available during regattas.

For moorings and anchorage, the club manages berthing and space allocations for competing boats, utilizing pontoons ('pontili' / 'Wet Pit Area') during events.

The clubhouse includes a social restaurant and a gym (palestra), with the gym requiring a medical certificate for use. The club also provides support spaces for race administration and participant services.

Training

The club runs an organised sailing school offering courses for children, youth, and adults, including base, intermediate, advanced, regatta training, dinghies, windsurfing, kitesurfing, and yacht/monohull courses. Youth training is actively promoted, and structured safety and race briefings are conducted, ensuring compliance with competition safety requirements during motorboat events.

Racing

Yacht Club Como is responsible for organising and hosting major events in both motonautica and sailing, with the most prominent being the Centomiglia del Lario. The club regularly manages national and international offshore, endurance, and motonautica events, adhering to U.I.M. and F.I.M. regulations.

Cruising

Club materials indicate that organised cruising outings and instructional cruises are part of the club's activities, alongside racing programmes. Sailing school materials list 'gite' (trips) and summer week activities for yacht/monohull craft.

Social Activities
