Circolo Degli Esteri

Founded in 1936 to serve the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Circolo degli Esteri occupies a historic riverside complex on Lungotevere dell’Acqua Acetosa with 1930s buildings attributed to Florestano Di Fausto.

The club combines institutional and cultural roles with extensive sporting and recreational facilities—tennis courts, gym with Technogym equipment, indoor basketball and climbing wall, rowing jetty, two seasonal outdoor pools, and planned padel court—plus dining, library, exhibition spaces and multiple halls for concerts, conferences and private receptions.

Access is governed by the club statute and reserved to members, limited external members, families and authorised guests.

History

Founded in 1936 to serve the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Circolo degli Esteri occupies a historic riverside complex in Lungotevere dell’Acqua Acetosa. The club’s buildings date from the 1930s, with architect Florestano Di Fausto credited with the original project. Social Activities

On-site amenities include two outdoor swimming pools (a historic lane pool and a family pool), a café/cafeteria, restaurant spaces, a library (Alessandro Vattani), a card/bridge pavilion, a pool table room, extensive exhibition space, and an outdoor historic garden used for events. Sport Facilities

The club features comprehensive on-site sports facilities, including seven clay tennis courts with lighting, a floodlit five-a-side artificial-grass football pitch, an indoor gym with a basketball court and climbing wall, a fitness room equipped with Technogym machines, two seasonal outdoor pools (25 m lane pool plus family pool), rowing facilities and a jetty on the Tiber, table tennis, running group activities, and a padel court under construction. Fitness Centers

Dining Experiences

Dining options include the main restaurant in the historic building, a functional cafeteria in the satellite area for informal meals and children’s parties, and an on-site café/bar. Event Spaces

Multiple representative spaces and large halls are available for cultural and institutional events, including the Salone della Musica, Sala degli Artisti, Sala Sanna, Sala Dorazio, the Alessandro Vattani library, poolside, and garden lawns. Family facilities include a satellite pool dedicated to families and children, a children’s area, and activity programming.
