Founded in 1917 to provide a place of welcome and support for officers and leading figures of the Allied nations during World War I, the Cercle de l'Union Interalliée acquired the Hôtell Perrinet de Jars at 33 rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré in 1920. Marshal Ferdinand Foch became the club's second president in 1920. The club has evolved into a private social, dining, and sports club and since 1980 houses a separate social entity (the Nouveau Cercle) on its upper floors; the clubhouse interiors were reworked in the 2000s, with the interior redesign credited to Juan Pablo Molyneux in 2004.
