Club History

The club was founded as the British Club of Gran Canaria on 2 October 1908. After short-term premises, the club moved into the 'Casa Brown' building on 1 January 1912 and purchased it in 1933. Initially established for the British merchant community and visiting ship captains, it later opened membership to people of other nationalities. Notable early visitors recorded by the club include the Duke and Duchess of York (later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth), Agatha Christie, and Charles Lindbergh.
