About

The building was built in 1732 and has been restored and fully refurbished. The venue redesign draws loosely on Dante’s Divine Comedy, with themed floors including the Hellfire Club (basement), Purgatorio, Paradiso, the Library and Card Room, plus restored historic features such as a boudoir, coffee house, apothecary’s bar and opium den. The club is now available for private bookings for dinners, birthdays, photoshoots and filming (Blacks Club).

Themed floors and on-site features

Multiple themed floors are styled around Dante’s Divine Comedy: the Hellfire Club basement (cocktails and dancing), Purgatorio (with a Coffee House), an Apothecary’s Bar and Opium Den, and Paradiso (with a Sanctuary for fine wines and a private Boudoir), plus a Library and Card Room.

Private hire is available for dinners, birthdays, photoshoots and filming, with background actors and a temperature-controlled environment.

The Library/Card Room floor has new toilet facilities, and there is butler/personal waiter service via “push for service” buttons.

Food and drinks

The venue offers cocktails in the Hellfire Club basement, an Apothecary’s Bar, and an Opium Den with Asian menus for two or four.

There is coffee in the Coffee House and wine in the Sanctuary, including glasses of madeira in the Card Room (Blacks Club).

Dining and private dining spaces

The Opium Den offers Asian menus for two or four, and the venue also includes the Apothecary’s Bar and the Coffee House.

Bookings can include hosting dinners and private dining, and the venue hire options also reference private dining with boudoir spaces.
