Athenaeum Club Hobart

Founded after meetings in early 1889, the club is a private members' organisation housed in an Edwardian Baroque clubhouse designed by member-architect R.

Flack Ricards and built from 1903.

It provides meeting, learning, dining and social facilities including a Monday–Friday lunch restaurant, two private dining rooms, main dining room, lounge and bar, a billiard room, complimentary coffee and tea, daily newspapers and staffed service, plus venue hire for private or corporate events.

The club was formed following meetings at the Church Institute in February–March 1889, with the inaugural meeting taking place on 5 March 1889. The building was designed in an Edwardian Baroque style by member-architect R. Flack Ricards after funding was secured in 1902, with construction commencing in 1903.
