About
The club was founded on 7 January 1886 by ten students of the Königliche Technische Hochschule zu Charlottenburg. It has a long tradition of club-owned ships and high-seas voyages, with notable vessels such as the Matador, Prosit series, and Walross series. The club has a history of major Seereisen and founding membership roles in German sailing organisations. More information can be found on the club's history page.
Sailing Programme
The club offers day and weekend sailing on the Havel with both jollen and keelboats. Training sails are conducted on the Prosit IV (a training/pleasure yacht) and the Walross bluewater yachts. The club organizes regular regattas, including the Havel Klassik, Max-Oertz-Preis, and Fuxjagd, and participates in regional and national regattas. Additionally, the club conducts offshore sailing and special event cruises. More details can be found on the sailing programme page.
Training Opportunities
Training at the club is structured and includes regular jollen training on weekends, intensive training weekends, and boat-specific training on the Prosit IV and other keelboats. Members can also participate in winter theory and crew evenings covering topics such as knotting and navigation. The club offers an internal "Jollenführer" qualification and preparation for the official German Sportbootführerschein Binnen (SBF Binnen). For more information, visit the training opportunities page.
Club Events
Annual and recurring events include the Havel Klassik, Max-Oertz-Preis, Fuxjagd, and seasonal Indienst/Außerdienst workdays. The club also hosts social events such as the Karnevals/Maskenball and Eishausfest, as well as a published annual programme and event calendar. More details can be found on the events page.
Member Experience
Members of the club have access to club-owned boats, including jollen, keelboats, and the Prosit IV and Walross IV, without the need to own their own boats. Members can take boats after completing the required internal qualifications and obtaining the SBF Binnen to skipper. Newcomers can arrange Schnuppersegeln with the Ausbildungsleiter, while juniors can enjoy a one-year reduced trial membership. Members often meet during crewabende, training weekends, and shared maintenance duties. More information is available on the membership experience page.
Facilities
The club's facilities include the Seglerhaus and a waterfront site at Scharfe Lanke 57 in Berlin-Spandau. The historic timber clubhouse features a large event hall, in-house catering, a library, guest rooms, and a small student dorm. The grounds include two boat piers with water and electric access, a slip ramp, mast and boat cranes, a large boat shed/workshop (Eishaus), a lawn, a pavilion, and a firepit. More details can be found on the facilities page.
Dining Options
The Seglerhaus provides in-house catering, which is utilized for club evenings and event hospitality, including welcome evenings for regattas. For more information, visit the dining options page.

Reciprocal Club Network
The club is part of the Verband Akademischer Segler-Vereine (VASV) and notes reciprocal welcome and crew possibilities among other ASVs in the network. Cooperation with peer clubs for sailing opportunities is also encouraged. More details can be found on the reciprocal club network page.
Seasonal Operations
The club's summer season is active with sailing, regattas, and day/weekend sails. In winter, boats are hauled for maintenance, and the club runs theory and crew evenings covering various topics. Spring and autumn Indienst/Außerdienst workdays are compulsory for new student members to prepare the fleet. More information is available on the seasonal operations page.
Trophies and Awards
The club organizes the Max-Oertz-Preis and the Havel Klassik, which are annual Yardstick and classic regattas, respectively. The club also fields entries in regional and national regattas, which are notable competitions and trophies. More information can be found on the trophies and awards page.
Social Activities
Regular social activities include crewabende, house events such as the Karnevals/Maskenball, Haus & Hof workdays, Eishausfest, and welcoming dinners for regattas. The Seglerhaus serves as a social hub for members and guests throughout the year. More details can be found on the social activities page.
Access Policy
Membership is open to students as ordinary members and to non-students as extraordinary members. Guests may attend Schnuppersegeln and events. Participation in Indienst/Außerdienst days and other club obligations is also applicable. More information can be found on the access policy page.
Crew Matching Services
The club does not have a formal centralized crew-matching platform. Members typically arrange sails among themselves using the club calendar, event signups, and regular crewabende.
